God’s Son, the sixth studio album by Nas, was released in December 2002 and is considered one of his most personal and introspective works. The album was created during a turbulent period, as Nas grieved the loss of his mother while dealing with the aftermath of his intense feud with Jay-Z. The result is an emotionally charged record where Nas sheds part of his battle-hardened persona in favor of deeply reflective and soul-searching lyrics.

Following the success of *Stillmatic* (2001), *God’s Son* was another critical triumph. With production from The Alchemist, Eminem, Ron Browz, and Salaam Remi, the album offers a diverse sonic palette, incorporating samples from James Brown, the Incredible Bongo Band, Fela Kuti, and Beethoven. Guest appearances include Alicia Keys, Kelis, Claudette Ortiz (City High), and even a posthumous feature from 2Pac. Despite the album’s introspective nature, Nas still found time to fire back at Jay-Z on tracks like *Last Real Nigga Alive* and *Mastermind*.
